Let’s make this the year of self discovery. Doesn’t that sound exactly like what we might need. But what does that mean? How do we do it?
I think we should take it day by day and concentrate on what truly makes us happy and brings us joy. However, that in itself can be difficult. Some of us are so busy taking care of everyone else or doing what you think is expected of you ~ I bet you might not even know what makes you happy.
Many people start out the New Year wanting to find this self discovery. They want to improve their lives in some way. So they make resolutions as they look at the parts of their lives that make them unhappy. They try to find quick fixes in these resolutions that barely make it past January.
I think we should try something else. We will follow our path this year. The path that will lead to truly living our best lives ~ but let’s go about it another way.
The first thing we are going to do is look around us and appreciate what we Do Have. The big things like our family and friends. The small things like a hot cup of tea and sitting in your living room enjoying the quiet for 15 minutes of the day. (That’s what I am doing now). Don’t look around and think about what you don’t have ~ enjoy the small moments that we are not assured will be there tomorrow.
